Dial Letters on your BlackBerry Pearl

Ever scratched your head and pondered for endless minutes trying to figure out how to dial one of those phone numbers with letters in them like 1-800-CALL-THEM numbers? But the Pearl doesn’t have the same letters and numbers assignments as the old-fashioned phones. Believe it or not I even contemplated on saving a picture of a regular old-fashioned phone keypad like this:

lol Thank God I found the answer to this problem before having to resort to the above solution. And it's so simple...

INSTRUCTIONS TO DIAL LETTERS:

Dial the numbers as you normally would, and when you have a letter to dial simply hold the ALT key and type the letter, using the Multitap typing method to select the required letters. (For example to type the letter "S" you will have to hold the ALT key and press the "AS" key twice quickly to acheive the "S" instead of the "A".

It would be nice if this phone actually had an "alt" key.. Which
key do you actually mean??

It's the up arrow / down arrow button bottom left. On older versions it actually says "alt". You can use this to select numbers when in "texting" mode

THANKS!! I could not get the "S" in Comcast to save my life. Just used your picture guide. But thanks anyway, the double-tap from A->S does not work on my Pearl.

Thank you so much for this info--I just Googled after realizing this downfall of my Pearl--this helps a ton!

BTW, my brand new Pearl does say "ALT."
