Web Shortcuts on your Home Screen

Tired of always having to visit the BB browser and then find your favourite bookmark to visit your favourite site?

Fear no more!

Thanks to Jonathan Fisher's "BlackBerry Web Shortcuts 2.1.0" the long browsing method is a thing of the past. The solution to have links to websites from your BlackBerry homescreen/desktop - one click launching of your 6 favourite sites without having to go through the browser bookmarks (involving several clicks and scrolls).

[WARNING - do not attempt to install this on a pre4.2 device by using the javaloader utility, I’ve had a report that installing on a 4.1 device caused a major issue - you’ve been warned - the app is perfectly safe if installed by the normal ota method on 4.2 or later devices]

Follow these simple steps:

1) Visit m.jonathanhfisher.co.uk/webshortcuts/ from your BlackBerry.
2) Download/Install the main utility application with at least one shortcut (there are total of 6 shortcuts you can customize)
3) Launch the utility application (shortcut hub) and configure all shortcuts.
For example:
Name of the site: Google
URL*: http://www.google.ca
Icon URL** (optional. file recommended is png 32x32 pixels): ....
4) Hit escape to save
5) Launch the Shortcut, it’ll attempt to download the icon the first time you run it

*note - all URLs require ‘http://’ at the beginning
**If using custom icons be sure to only use .png files of around 32 by 32 pixels, if the application seems to be taking forver to download an image you've probably made a typo.
