The message is in the LIGHT

So by now you are probably familiar with the LED red or orange light because they are the most common seen lights on the LED on your Blackberry Pearl. However there's a full spectrum of the lights that mean something for each color. Follow the diagrams below for a quick guide to know what your blinking LED lights represent (this is specially handy when your phone is on vibrate or silence while in a meeting so you can view that sucker without having to pull out your phone to view what's up).

Red LED light on the Pearl means a new message has arrived.
Blue LED light on the Pearl means that your device is paired with another bluetooth-enabled device
Green LED light on the Pearl means you are in a wireless coverage area.
Amber LED light on the Pearl means the battery power is low.

MSN is finally here (incase you didn't already know)!

For those of you who don't already know that Research in Motion (RIM) has launched Windows Live Messenger (MSN) for Blackberry. Now you can easily chat with you friends on the Messenger as well have access to your Hotmail/Live Mail.

Some of you may not already be seeing the icon appear on your phone (Mine appeared overnight and ofcourse I noticed it since I was waiting for a long time for MSN to be available for free for BBs. However one of my friends wasn't so lucky and had to google to find the proper download link). So if you don't have the MSN icon on your home screen - you can get them here.

I've compiled a list of links depending on your Service Provider. Simply log into your Blackberry Internet Service (BIS) and click "Service Books" on the left side and then "Resend Service Books". You should soon see the MSN icon appear on your phone. If after awhile you still don't see the icon appear, try restarting. If all fails, you definitely must contact your service provider for help.

Juggling between your iPod and Pearl?

It's safe to say most young adult these days own more than one piece of portable electronic... usually it's a cellphone and an mp3 player. Most of the newer cellphones have an mp3 player embedded in it however just a few years ago this would have cost an arm-and-a-leg - hence the reason most of us resorted to buying a cell phone and a separate mp3 player.

Those of you who own an iPod and a Pearl (not unlike me) here's a great article on how you could cut-through-the-crap and get a straight forward method to transferring old songs from your iPod to your Pearl.

You'll need:
iPod
iTunes installed on your computer (with an updated playlist from your iPod)
Pearl
Roxio Media Manager
Mini USB Cable

For instructions simply follow this link: http://www.blackberry-pearl.net/transfer-music-from-itunes-to-your-blackberry-pearl/

Clear up that log!

*Sorry for the delay in post pearl-lovers I've been a bit swamped with work on my end... but on to the post for today*

So ever found your BB slowing down a bit? Maybe you have a lot of games, emails and sms... one other way we can better the memory is to do some spring cleaning - so to speak.

Here's a way you can clear up some unwanted log (WARNING: Try this at your own risk - it seemed to have worked just fine for me. Also note that if you have problems with your phone and need to troubleshoot this log should probably be left alone as your service provider might need information retrieved from it... otherwise continue). Although this method will only clear up a small amount of space and nonetheless it's useful!

Simply press ALT + LGLG (together) and the Event Log will be displayed.

Then press the Menu key and select "Delete".

Turn your Pearl into an iPod for your car!

Not everyone can afford to get the cool and funky ipod (EVEN with the dip in prices over the last few years)... that being said why not spend a few bucks to buy the accessories to make your OWN iPod (sort of).

Follow these simple Pearlicious tips and tricks to make your Pearl do things it was never meant to do :-)

iPOD YOUR PEARL IN A FEW STEPS
You need 3 items to use your Pearl as an MP3 player in your car.

1) 2.5mm to 3.5mm STEREO adapter

Note: I was warned not to buy just any 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter (from popular stores like Radioshack, Best Buy, Futureshop or eBay) since they are usually mono, not stereo. You will need should get a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter made for stereo sound. This is the most common reason why most peopel give up thinking the Pearl isn't capable of delivering clear sound.

One company that offers this is Seidio.
The Seidio 2.5mm to 3.5mm Stereo Adapter was designed specifically for the 8100 Series. Buy it here
2) audio out coupler
Note: I advice also purchasing the Seidio Audio Coupler since you'll still only get sound from one side of the car due to impedance issues. An audio-out coupler solves that problem. Seidio makes great Audio Coupler as well. Buy it here

3) 3.5mm extension into your AUX input

Now if all goes well you'll now be a proud owener of an "iPearl"!

Dial Letters on your BlackBerry Pearl

Ever scratched your head and pondered for endless minutes trying to figure out how to dial one of those phone numbers with letters in them like 1-800-CALL-THEM numbers? But the Pearl doesn’t have the same letters and numbers assignments as the old-fashioned phones. Believe it or not I even contemplated on saving a picture of a regular old-fashioned phone keypad like this:

lol Thank God I found the answer to this problem before having to resort to the above solution. And it's so simple...

INSTRUCTIONS TO DIAL LETTERS:

Dial the numbers as you normally would, and when you have a letter to dial simply hold the ALT key and type the letter, using the Multitap typing method to select the required letters. (For example to type the letter "S" you will have to hold the ALT key and press the "AS" key twice quickly to acheive the "S" instead of the "A".
